There is an interesting observation that those people who have achieved serious and outstanding results in their profession usually had two of the most important teachers in their lives. The most important thing that the first Teacher did was inspire and instill love and interest in the subject, and the second appeared later - already in his youth or adulthood - his task was to set the technique and analyze mistakes together with the student when solving tasks in any field.
My 12-year-old daughter Arina was lucky to meet Ivan, the first teacher who managed to interest her in mathematics, which for many years before this meeting was an unloved subject, and in the autumn of 2023, Arina suddenly began solving problems of mathematical circles.

The material was completed in half a year in an hour. I had to prepare for the exam, the tasks of which I did not know how to solve at all. As a result, I knew how to solve everything on the exam. Ivan was always in touch throughout the week of exam preparation, checked all my tasks, answered all my questions. The exam is passed, I am absolutely satisfied with the result.

I studied discrete mathematics with Ivan. The goal was to prepare for the exam and improve academic performance. I studied at the Higher School of Economics, so the program was quite complicated, sometimes I couldn't figure out the topics on my own. Vanya is a great teacher, and most importantly, a great scientist who is savvy in any mathematical discipline, even probability theory, even differential geometry, even higher algebra. I also want to note the high qualities of the person himself: always go for the result, and the constant desire to convey complete information that will not contradict the high mathematical culture, even to the humanities. And this incredible combination of exceptional human qualities makes Ivan an indispensable teacher.

I really enjoyed studying group theory in the Yulia's Dream program with Ivan Yakovlev. At the beginning of the course, our group could not do general classes and Ivan adjusted to our schedule. Also, the lessons were held in a fairly convenient format, we analyzed the chapter of the textbook we read using the example of tasks. We also received detailed comments from Ivan and, when faced with a problem analysis campaign, we solved it. We also received some suggestive hints from Ivan when we needed them. The learning process was also quite flexibly built, If necessary, we were distracted from reading the book and read some article to delve into the topic. This was the case, for example, when studying permutations.

Ivan is a real modern teacher! He helped me to form skills, passed on knowledge and, most importantly, motivated me to continue studying. I needed help with the entrance exams in higher mathematics for admission to Prague in 2022. The time was limited to 4 months, the tasks were in Czech, but Ivan quickly got his bearings, coped with the translation and prepared a plan for preparation. We agreed on a schedule because I'm working. Despite these difficulties, we worked through all the entrance tickets and even had time to repeat the topics that I had difficulties with. Later, in this year 2023, I was in a group for which Ivan taught a mathematics course at TuringSchool. I was very glad to study with Ivan again. I will recommend it to anyone who wants to figure out mathematics, find motivation and get full help.

Since the beginning of the last academic year, I took courses from the American University of MIT, and Ivan became my teacher. He has been my mentor for a whole year and I do not regret at all that I gave my time to study new material with this person. It seems to me that anyone who does not even know how much two and two will be, would be able to fully integrate into the process and leave the courses with a huge bag of knowledge. Our teacher, in addition to chewing everything down to the smallest detail, presented the material in the lessons no less interestingly. You can spend your time with him incredibly productively, because after completing the courses, I not only began to understand a new topic better for me, but also, in principle, all mathematics. I want to convey a huge thank you for the useful material, and its presentation to Ivan!

When I started studying with Vanya, I had almost no serious knowledge of mathematics, and most importantly, I did not understand why it was interesting. And it was classes with him that helped me understand the beauty of mathematical concepts and get inspired by topics that I used to just learn for exams or for use in biology (I never would have thought that I would want to discuss the countability of sets and the definition of topological space with friends!). So I recommend his classes to anyone who wants to see mathematics not only as a useful tool, but also as their own valuable world full of impressive moments. The only drawback is that you can greatly regret that you did not study mathematics before.
